"I grew up in Tallmadge, purchased my first home and started my family in Akron and am now raising my kids in Tallmadge.  


I love both of these communities and am honored to represent you on Summit County Council.  As your District 6th Representative, I am working hard with all community leaders and their staff to best serve YOUR needs and to advocate for what is best for our community."

Christine Wiedie Higham - Proven Experience

Christine Wiedie Higham worked during her college years in the Ohio House of Representatives as a page and learned at an early age what it takes to be a good public servant.  Christine also learned about giving back, taking care of those who need it most and how to listen.  After college she worked in social services for ten years before joining the late Summit County Executive Russ Pry as his Deputy Director of Human Resources.  Christine realized early on how important it is to be mindful of how our laws affect all people.  


Christine Wiedie Higham is the current Director of Human 

Resources at the Mustard Seed Market and Cafe.  Working with people, solving problems and creating opportunities are all the things Christine enjoys most.  


Christine Wiedie Higham serves as your current District 6 Summit County Councilwoman.

Christine Wiedie Higham - Commitment to Community

Christine Wiedie Higham is a long-time member of the Akron Boards of Trade Council where she served as Treasurer and the East Akron Board of Trade  where she served as Secretary.  She is also a member of the Tallmadge Rotary Club, Tallmadge Chamber of Commerce and has served on the Civil Service Commission for the City of Tallmadge. Christine completed the Leadership Akron’s Community Leadership Institute and volunteers as Secretary for the Tallmadge Little League 

Softball Board.  The  Councilwoman  is  a  member  of  the  Summit  County Planning  Commission,  serves  on  the  Let’s  Move,  Summit  County  initiative  and  is  a  member  of  the    Akron/Summit Convention & Visitors Bureau Board of Directors.


Christine Wiedie Higham and her family attend First Congregational Church of Tallmadge and Christine serves on the Christian Education Committee.  


Christine Wiedie Higham holds a bachelor’s degree from Kent State University and a master’s degree from Tiffin University.  


The Higham family resides in Tallmadge.
